Heavily wooded Lakes Region lots run $3,000–$8,000 per acre to clear completely — trees, stumps, and debris hauled. Light brush and sapling ground costs far less. There's a decent chance there is — this is granite country. We dig test pits before quoting, so ledge is found with a shovel, not a change order. If ledge makes one corner expensive, sometimes shifting the project twenty feet saves thousands, and we'll tell you so.
Within 250 feet of a lake, NH's Shoreland Water Quality Protection Act limits cutting (a tree-point system in the first 50 feet) and requires permits for significant earth work. Plenty of projects are still very doable — they just need planning. We handle the shoreland side on every waterfront job.
Prime digging is May–November. Winter frost slows everything, and posted roads in March–April mud season stop loaded trucks entirely in many towns. Fall booking for spring work gets you first position on the schedule — and clearing can often run through winter when the ground is frozen solid.
